Meet the Council
Ben McAllister (Mayor Pro-tem)
Serving Since: 2019
Past Service: 2009-2015
"I ran for City Council to get involved in this wonderful community and city. Something I am proud to have gotten accomplished during my time on city council is the installation of an 8 inch water main across the river and up Barrick Rd. This was a great project because it is important to have more than one main across the river and it helps ensure water supply to all of the city at a needed volume."
Serving Since: 2008
"In July of 2008, a City Council Member resigned before their term ended. I wanted to get involved in city government so I attended the next council meeting. After a short interview I was sworn in and took a seat at the Council table.
Some highlights over the years. A new bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the Cedar River, new Barrick road water main, a beautiful Veteran’s Memorial, new and continued housing developments, 7th Street Lift Station, Golf carts/ATV use on City streets, park improvements, equipment updates and new “Welcome to Janesville” signs. Some new and some updated improvements to Janesville’s Businesses and School.
Thank You for your continued support."

"I was approached to fill a vacancy on the council and thought it would be a great way to give back to the town. I enjoy the small town living and already serve the community as a member of the Janesville Fire Department. I look forward to working hard to improve this great town!"
