Police
The Janesville Police Department was established approximately 1975 with only 2 part time officers. In 1979 the department grew to 1 full time and 3 part time officers. At the time some consideration was given to replacing these positions with county deputy sheriff patrols, but it was found that our citizens appreciate the more immediate response to complaints, accidents, and situations requiring police assistance. Today, the police department operates with two full time officers with a mission to serve as partners with our citizens to maintain a safe and peaceful community, committing ourselves to the preservation of life, protection of property, and safeguarding individual’s liberties.
